Contaminated runway take-off & reject point
No CRFI take-off correction:
- TC AIM publishes CRFI corrections for landing distance and crosswind limit only. No take-off correction: accelerate-stop and balanced-field-length variables made one impractical (AIR 1.6.7).
- Snow, slush, standing water on paved runway can seriously degrade take-off performance (TP 1102).
- Depth and coverage vary, no single figure fits: take increase from AFM (TP 1102).
- Get current field condition report from tower or FSS (TP 1102).
Reject point (TP 1102):
- Pick a point along take-off run before committing.
- Not lifted off by that point: throttle back and stop.
- Point must leave adequate room to stop AND clearance of obstacles off departure end once airborne.
- Walk runway first if possible. If in doubt, don't go.
Trap: don't CRFI-correct a take-off distance; no such correction is published, use a reject point instead.
