Fuel grades, colours & MOGAS
Fuel colour (dyed by grade; TC AIM AIR 1.3.1, Table 1.1):

Wrong fuel (TC AIM AIR 1.3.1; TP 1102):
- Fuel other than aircraft-specified: contrary to a Certificate of Airworthiness condition. May seriously damage engine, cause in-flight failure.
- Never substitute a lower grade.
- Emergency: use next higher grade.
- MOGAS (automotive gasoline): TC approves for certain aircraft types only, under specific conditions (TC AIM AIR 1.3.1, NOTE 2).
Trap: tank or truck label alone is not enough. Confirm grade by colour before fuelling. Never accept a lower grade to "get by".
