Solo flight considerations
Solo = no instructor weight: aircraft lighter than on any dual flight.
| Phase | Solo effect |
|---|---|
| Take-off and climb | Quicker, more rapid than dual |
| Descent | Less power to hold same rate of descent |
| Landing flare | Floats longer |
| Landing roll | More sensitive to gusts in initial stage, right after touchdown |
- Cause: less weight, same wing.
- Accelerates faster; needs less power and less speed bleed-off to descend and land.
Trap: expecting solo to feel like dual: faster climb, extra float on landing.
