Touch-and-go pre-takeoff check sequence
A touch-and-go takes off during the landing roll with no full stop, so the pre-takeoff check is done while moving.
- Start only when the aircraft is under complete control in the landed mode, not at touchdown.
- Run a compressed check of items that matter for the next takeoff.
Essential items, in order:
| Step | Item | Setting |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Flaps | Up (or set for takeoff) |
| 2 | Trim | Set for takeoff |
| 3 | Carburettor heat | Cold |
| 4 | Power | Full (or takeoff setting) |
Each item reverses an approach setting. Flaps, trim, carb heat: none stays in landing position.
Trap: carb heat left hot into the takeoff roll. Set hot on approach; step 3 resets it cold before power, not after.
