Flight authority requirements
Flight authority must be in effect for any aircraft except hang glider or ultralight aeroplane (CAR 605.03(1)(a); LRA 5.1).
Three forms (605.03; LRA 5.3.1):
- Certificate of Airworthiness (C of A)
- Special C of A
- Flight permit
| Duty | Rule |
|---|---|
| In effect | Flight authority in effect to fly (605.03(1)(a)) |
| Conditions | Operate in accordance with the flight authority's conditions (605.03(1)(b)) |
| Carriage | Every form carried on board (605.03(1)(c)), subject to limited exceptions in 605.03(2)-(3) |
Trap: glider, powered glider, airship, balloon still need one. Conditions are not advisory: operate within them, not as you judge safe. It stays on board the aircraft, not with the pilot; a journey log record does not replace carrying it.
