When an aircraft is overdue
An aircraft is overdue if no arrival report is filed by its SAR time, or by the default time below (CAR 602.70).
| SAR time given | Plan type | Overdue |
|---|---|---|
| Yes | - | Immediately after SAR time |
| No | Flight plan | 1 hour after the last reported ETA |
| No | Itinerary | 24 hours after the last reported ETA |
- Last reported ETA: a revised ETA replaces the filed one.
- Uncertainty phase: starts at the same deadlines if no arrival report (AC 100-001 glossary, uncertainty phase (1)(b)-(c)).
- AIM wording for a flight itinerary: a search begins 24 hr after the duration of the flight, or the ETA specified on a flight itinerary (TC AIM SAR 3.5(b)).
Trap: the 1 hour and 24 hour defaults apply only when no SAR time is given.
