Smoking prohibition
No person may smoke on board an aircraft. Blanket ban: whole flight, everywhere on aircraft (CAR 602.06(1)).
- No phase-of-flight exception: not limited to takeoff and landing.
- No PIC-announcement exception: no instruction needed.
- Lavatory covered: old lavatory-only rule (former CAR 602.06(2)) repealed; (1) already covers it.
- Smoke detector: no person may tamper with or disable a smoke detector installed in an aircraft lavatory, without permission from a crew member or the operator of the aircraft (CAR 602.06(3)).
Trap: ban is not limited to takeoff and landing, nor "when the PIC says so"; CAR 602.06(1) is unconditional.
