Transborder customs clearance
Canada-U.S. flight: U.S. customs steps (TC AIM RAC 3.5.3):
- ADCUS on flight plan no longer accepted.
- Before flight: file to an acceptable customs destination in U.S. and separately contact U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP).
- Skipping CBP contact can bring a penalty.
Canadian customs landing (TC AIM AGA 1.1):
- Aircraft arriving into or departing from Canada must first land at an aerodrome with customs control facilities (airport of entry, AOE).
- CFS/CWAS "Aerodrome/Facility Directory" (Section B) marks them CUST in left-hand column.
Trap: ADCUS no longer notifies U.S. customs; landing at an AOE and filing the plan are not enough, contact CBP directly.
