Unserviceable ELT relief
Unserviceable ELT (CAR 605.39): aircraft may fly without serviceable ELT if operator:
- at first aerodrome where possible, repairs or removes the ELT
- sends a removed ELT to a maintenance facility
- keeps a cockpit placard giving removal date until replaced
Re-equip deadline:

- Alternative per TC AIM SAR 3.9: fly per an approved MEL, or where no MEL is approved, fly up to 30 days under conditions.
Trap: Air taxi/commuter (Part VII Subpart 4/5) get 10 days to re-equip, not 30.
